Pooh's Honey Tree

Jacobi was filling in the blanks of this book just a day or two
after we got it from the library.

Kaia is 2 months old!

Kaia has grown a lot since she was born.  She was 7 lbs. 15 oz. at her 8 week appointment.  It's crazy to think that she still may not be as big as her brother was when he was born, but she seems so big compared to what she was at birth!

Here is a little comparison with the baby doll...

 ...and the kleenex box:)

Kaia's 1st Thanksgiving!

We hosted Thanksgiving dinner this year.
Grandma Pat & great-Grandma & Grandpa Jim came over.
Grandpa Jim bought the turkey.
Grandma Liz baked a pumpkin pie.
Grandma Pat baked an apple pie.
Mommy cooked the turkey...it was her fist time cooking a turkey.
Daddy set the table(see below) and carved the turkey.

Daddy & Grandma Pat waiting patiently for the turkey to finish cooking:)

Our beautiful table.

The turkey tasted as good as it looks (if I do say so myself)!

Newborn comparison

 Jacobi(9 lbs. 11oz.)

Kaia(4 lbs. 12 oz.)

So strong!

Kaia's room

Since Kaia decided to make an early entrance into the world we didn't quite have her room ready when she was born.  And by not quite ready I mean, shower gifts and diapers from a diaper cake(shown in earlier shower post) strewn about,  she had no dresser and nothing on the walls. It seems that many played a part in making this little room complete.  Grandma Liz & Grandma Pat helped mommy cut the fabric for the curtain, mommy made the curtain & the name blocks, Grandma Dodie made the pillow and daddy refinished/repaired the dresser and hung the name blocks.

Play time

Kaia spends very little time on the floor since big brother can't quite be trusted not to squish her, but here are a few pictures of them "playing together" on the floor.

Snack time

Pretzels and grapes are among Jacobi's favorite snacks.
He often wants to share his snack with his baby sister.  Mommy quickly intervenes saying "thank you for wanting to share, but Kaia can only have milk".  Lets hope his desire to share with Kaia continues when she is old enough to play with toys:)

Making a "Choo Choo" with his grapes and then counting them.
He can count to 3!

Grape Choo Choos are the best:)

Kaia with Daddy & Mommy

They say you take less pictures of each successive child...I'm pretty sure that is true in our case already.  Oh well.  We still love you Kaia:)
Here are a few pictures of you with mommy & daddy.

This outfit was bought before Jacobi was born in case he was a girl...
when I was pregnant with Jacobi we didn't know whether he was a boy or a girl.

Kaia was able to wear the dress that mommy wore
on the day of her baptism way back in 1984:)

Brother & Sister

Jacobi loves his sister.
I'm sure Kaia loves her brother too, she just doesn't show it yet:)
When he wakes up in the morning or from his nap in the afternoon, Jacobi says "Kaia?" and proceeds to say "hug" until he sees her/is able to give her a hug.  He is a very sweet and caring big brother.  And, he is gentle most of the time too.

Jacobi most likely just got done saying "all done" here.

Trick or Treat!

The kids and I go to the library on Wednesdays for story time.  Since this Wednesday happened to be Halloween they told the kids they could wear their costumes.  We listened to a few stories and then instead of doing a project(like we do most weeks) they let the kids trick or treat around the library.

In the evening we took the kids around to a few of our church friends' homes to trick or treat.  Jacobi enjoyed dressing up as a tiger.  Kaia was dressed as a  ballerina in the morning, but she made a mess of her clothes before the evening activities so she was just her cute self in a comfy sleeper by evening;)

It looks like Jacobi is striking a pose here, but he is actually trying to
turn around on the step since I asked him to show me his tale;)

There is the tale!
