Yum!

Adam and I sort of started a Fall tradition in 2009
We wanted to do something Fall-like, so we decided to go to an orchard to pick our own apples.
Adam thought of the idea to make a pie with some of the apples.
I replied: "Yeah, we can do that.  We just need to stop at Target on the way home from the orchard to buy a pie plate and a crust".

Adam replied: "What, store bought pie crust!?, No we have to make it home-made."

So, we headed to "Apple Jack's", picked some apples, stopped at Target to buy a pie plate and then headed home to get busy making a home-made crust and peeling/coring/slicing some apples.

I found recipes for both a crust and pie in my Better Homes & Garden's cookbook.  Making the crust wasn't as difficult as I thought, and it turned out pretty good.

Here is a picture of our 2009 masterpiece;)

I apparently didn't get a picture of last years pie:(

This year we got our apples from a local farm.  We used Honeycrisp...they are soooo delicious!

Since I had a refrigerator pie crust on hand we used that...call me lazy, but it was still really yummy!
In my opinion, you can't have pie without a scoop(or two) of ice cream;)

Tug of War

Jacobi thought it was fun to put his sock in his mouth and leave it there while continuing to play with other toys.  He sort of looked like a little puppy dog:)
Mommy decided to put one of Jacobi's socks in her mouth to see what he would do:)

It began with a friendly game of "Tug of War"...

...and ended with Jacobi squealing with delight as he pulled the sock from mommy's mouth:)

Sweet Potatoes, Teddy Bears and a Petting Zoo

 Jacobi loves sweet potatoes!

We introduced Jacobi to a teddy bear a couple of weeks ago.  As you can see, he thoroughly enjoys it!

Mommy likes to sing "Head & Shoulders, Knees & Toes" while pointing at the different parts on both the bear and Jacobi.  Here it looks as though Jacobi has discovered the bears' ears;)

Daddy's Day Off...

Friday is Adam's day off so we try to get out and explore the city and enjoy some of the local attractions.  This week we headed downtown to Primanti's, a well known eatery in Pittsburgh.  They are known for their unique sandwiches which include french fries and coleslaw...piled on top of your choice of meat/cheese.  I was a little skeptical when Adam told me I had to try this sandwich with fries and coleslaw.  It sounded kind of gross to me, but it was delicious!  I think I surprised Adam by eating my entire sandwich;)  After we were finished eating we headed down the "strip" to browse around some of the shops.  We stopped by a stand that was selling Steelers gear and bought Jacobi a onesie.  We also couldn't resist having him try on an old style football helmet.

Here we were in a kitchen store that sold every possible kitchen tool/utensil/gadget that you can imagine.

Finger food...

A couple of weeks ago we introduced Jacobi to some finger food (Gerber Graduates Puffs).  He is a fan and he is pretty good at it too...getting it to his mouth on the first attempt:)

The cheesy grin we receive when we applaud his accomplishments;)

Washing it down with a little pear juice.
